About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Bid Management the successful candidate will proactively lead and manage pursuit teams through the full customer engagement process, in successfully signing material opportunities to support business goals through the deployment of best-in-class deal practice.

Main Responsibilities:

The Bid Manager will work closely with the sales lead to ensure the opportunity is taken through the correct level of qualification/governance with the right level of information and tools used, to enable quick and accurate decision

• To ensure margin and profitability targets are optimised
• Lead and manage pursuit teams and inputs from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving sales, pre-sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery
• Identify required skill sets, engage all parties, and ensure all individuals understand their roles, responsibilities and timelines within the opportunity
• Conduct Bid Kick-offs where appropriate to add clarity to what is required from the team
• Review the quality of the team’s outputs and own/manage the review cycle to give the best winning chance
• Contributing to the written proposal – both in terms of content and presentation.
• Lead to maximise shortlist rate by ensuring the impact and quality of proposition is at the highest level
• Overall responsibility for compliance with the governance of the deal, ensuring stakeholders have early visibility and that the bid is deliverable
• Ensure deals are presented at the appropriate sign-on/signoff levels in the correct format and in a timely manner so stakeholders have time to make informed decisions.
• Once deals are completed ensure all the collateral from the deal is uploaded to the appropriate areas in the correct format to enable reuse

Experience:

• Achieved or working toward the Association of Proposal Management Professionals Practitioner Level (APMP) highly desirable.
• Proven capability in delivering winning, multi-million pound product or complex services opportunities
• Background in solution/services and experience of bid campaign management.
• Experience of working in Public Sector environments
• Sound commercial understanding, P&L, and risk management skills
• Proactive and takes ownership and engenders strong will to win within the team
• Solid understanding and management of internal governance procedures
• Strong programme management skills
• Advanced written English skills accompanied with a clear communication style, market awareness
• Strong understanding of commercial law and financial modelling
• Good negotiation skills and ability to influence at all levels
• Presentation skills to customer level competency
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
